Todd Blanche, President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, was sworn in as U.S. attorney general in a closed Oval Office ceremony after the Senate confirmed him 50-49 early Saturday. Judge Emil Bove, a federal appeals court judge and former Trump defense-team colleague, administered the oath with Trump and Blanche’s family present. Blanche had served as acting attorney general since April, after Trump fired Pam Bondi. His confirmation drew opposition from Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, with Bill Cassidy casting the decisive Republican vote.
