Sen. Curtis Presses Subpoenas

Sen. John Curtis asked the Senate Judiciary Committee to investigate whether Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden used family ties for private financial gain. The Utah Republican also urged subpoenas compelling both men to testify. His request followed reporting that Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev helped pay for Trump Jr.’s May wedding afterparty in the Bahamas, including a private island and fireworks. Curtis cast the request as a same-standard test, saying Congress should not accept different rules for Republican and Democratic presidential families. President Trump said Trump Jr. repaid Kremlev, while the couple described Kremlev as a generous friend. Curtis said the inquiry should test whether ethics and anti-corruption laws need reform.
