What happened

President Donald Trump held a rally in Vandalia, Ohio, for Republican Sen. Jon Husted’s reelection and Vivek Ramaswamy’s run for governor. The competitive Husted-Sherrod Brown race could help decide Senate control, while Democrats are also challenging Ramaswamy. Data centers have become an issue because their electricity and water demands raised cost concerns for residents. Trump urged supporters to vote, predicted big Republican wins, insulted Democrats, and backed data centers as investment needed against China. Husted said his bill would make large users pay power costs; Brown says Husted backed tax breaks leaving Ohioans paying. Trump said he would be less inclined to help Ohio if Democrats won. The midterms are November 3, and Trump plans to campaign across at least 17 states.

How each side covered it

From the left

Only one left-leaning outlet we track covered this: Al Jazeera, under the headline “Trump defiant about midterm chances as he rallies for Republicans in Ohio”.

From the right

Right-leaning outlets framed the rally as a push to turn Trump supporters’ enthusiasm into Republican wins, emphasizing optimism and strength. Fox News centered the economic pitch, saying Republican leadership was bringing investment, jobs and protections for electricity customers. The Gateway Pundit lingered on Trump’s image as a resilient victor over Democratic attacks.
