What happened

A Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll put President Donald Trump’s approval at 33%, with 66% disapproving, his lowest mark in that survey. Likely voters in the same poll favored Democratic congressional candidates over Republicans, 52% to 44%. The numbers land as Republicans face a midterm balancing act: they need Trump loyalists to vote, but close ties to an unpopular president can hurt in competitive districts. Some Republican candidates have broken with Trump on policy or played down his role, including removing his name, image or endorsement from campaign sites. White House spokesman Davis Ingle said Trump had built a robust MAGA coalition and remained the party’s best messenger and motivator. Election Day is Nov. 3.

MS NOW cast the final stretch as increasingly favorable for Democrats trying to regain Congress. Raw Story focused on economic pain and the belief that Trump is using the presidency to enrich himself.
