What happened

The NFL rescinded San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk’s fine after an appeals officer ruled in his favor. The league and the NFL Players Association clarified that imitating drinking a beverage during a celebration will not be a violation or lead to discipline. The league had initially fined Juszczyk $29,852 for two celebrations after catches against the Miami Dolphins, treating them as beer-chugging violations. The fine came during an NFL crackdown on player celebrations. The NFL said the celebration looked like chugging beer; Juszczyk said he was drinking juice, matching his nickname. Celebrations depicting violence, smoking, drug use, or sexual conduct remain prohibited.

How each side covered it

From the left

Only one left-leaning outlet we track covered this: CNN, under the headline “49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk wins his appeal on fine over his ‘Juice’ celebration | CNN”.

From the right

Right-leaning outlets framed the decision as common sense, player freedom, and league hypocrisy over alcohol. Fox News cast the punishment as an obvious overreach and said the broader shift ended an absurd beverage distinction. Daily Mail lingered on player anger at alcohol sponsorship “hypocrisy”.
