Moke Threatens Hawaii Flooding

Tropical Storm Moke passed south of Hawaii’s Big Island on Sunday, close enough to bring a new flood threat to communities still recovering from Hurricane Lala. The National Hurricane Center placed Moke about 310 miles south of Hilo Sunday morning, with maximum sustained winds near 45 mph as it moved west. Forecasters said parts of the Big Island could receive more than a foot of rain, with gusty winds also possible. Rain was expected to spread to other Hawaiian islands through Monday.
