The reporting
Rescuers in Nepal pulled hydropower workers Sanjay Sah, 30, and Kabir Maharjan, 45, alive from a mud-blocked tunnel at the Trishuli 3A Hydropower Station nine days after floods trapped them underground. Search crews heard voices from inside the tunnel before reaching the men and continued digging by hand toward other workers believed trapped in air pockets. The Aug. 26 floods and slides swept through Himalayan river valleys near the Nepal-Tibet border, killing more than 1,200 people and leaving thousands missing or displaced.
