The reporting

A neutral summary of the key facts most sources agree on, drawn from reporting across the political spectrum.

Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen launched dozens of drones and ballistic missiles at southwestern Saudi Arabia on Sept. 8, striking five cities and energy, military and civilian sites. Saudi authorities said 73 civilians, including children, were injured, while fires broke out at oil facilities and some energy operations were temporarily halted. The Houthis said the assault retaliated for more than 120 Saudi strikes on Yemen over the previous three days. Saudi Arabia said it would respond firmly, and oil prices moved toward $100 a barrel after the attacks.
