Americans marked the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with ceremonies at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and the Flight 93 National Memorial, honoring 2,977 people killed when al-Qaeda hijackers crashed four airliners. In Lower Manhattan, relatives read names at the 9/11 Memorial as Vice President JD Vance and former presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and Bill Clinton attended. President Donald Trump spoke at the Pentagon, where 184 died; leaders in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, honored Flight 93’s 40 passengers and crew.
