What happened
Houthi rebels said they launched missiles and drones at Saudi targets, including Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, Abha airport and military facilities in the southwest. The strikes came as Saudi Arabia and allied Yemeni forces press an offensive to retake Houthi-held territory on Yemen’s Red Sea coast near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The route carries about 12% of global trade, and the Iran-backed Houthis have sought to blockade Saudi-linked shipping. Saudi coalition spokesperson said forces intercepted a ballistic missile north of Riyadh. Yemen’s government accused the Houthis of striking Aden airport; the Houthis said they targeted Saudi supplies at nearby Badr camp. A Cairo flight was diverted to Jeddah.
How each side covered it

Left-leaning outlets framed the episode as a regional escalation, stressing civilian risk and the collapse of a fragile pause. The Guardian emphasized cross-border consequences for shipping and Saudi targets, while tracing the renewed fighting to Saudi bombing of Sana’a airport.
