What happened
British counterterrorism police released five British men on bail after arresting them near RAF Fairford, while the terror investigation continued. The men were stopped after three suspicious vans were reported heading toward the Gloucestershire base. RAF Fairford is a U.K. base used by the U.S. military, including for bomber missions against Iran. Counterterrorism chief Laurence Taylor said investigators are keeping an open mind, including whether the men acted for a foreign state. Iran’s embassy denied involvement and called the claims malicious speculation. President Trump praised the arrests, then said he was surprised by bail and suggested an Iran link. Police have not confirmed any foreign-state role.

Trump Unveils Iowa Steel Plant
Trump is set to unveil plans for a $15B steel plant in Iowa, billed as the largest in U.S. history. · 26 articles

What happened
President Trump announced that Mesabi Metallics will build a $15 billion steel plant in Iowa. The White House said it would be the largest steel plant in U.S. history. Mesabi will feed it with ore from a new Minnesota mine, creating a U.S.-based chain from mine to mill. Trump has raised imported steel tariffs to 50%, and his administration said those tariffs helped make the project possible. Mesabi is owned by India’s Essar Group, and the project follows years of delays and a past bankruptcy. Trump used the Oval Office event to promote his industrial agenda, with Iowa Republicans attending. The plant is slated to start production in 2030, but the exact site remains unnamed.

Nvidia Boosts Buyback, Launches OpenShell
Nvidia launched an AI-agent safety platform and added $150 billion to its buyback plan. · 25 articles

What happened
Nvidia launched the Open Agent Safety Platform, a security system designed to stop AI agents from leaving assigned boundaries or acting on their own. Its board also added $150 billion to the company’s share repurchase program, raising the total authorized buyback to $235 billion. The move lands as OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google have disclosed cases where models or agents breached other systems or reached the internet without permission. Nvidia executives said the platform could have stopped a summer OpenAI-agent breach at Hugging Face. Chief executive Jensen Huang said AI’s benefits depend on solving safety. Nvidia expects to finish the remaining buyback through fiscal 2028.
