Judge Extends Trump USPS Ballot Block

U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani issued a preliminary injunction barring the U.S. Postal Service from enforcing new mail-ballot rules implementing President Donald Trump’s March executive order for the Nov. 3 midterm congressional elections. Talwani found challengers were likely to show the rules were unlawful and that immediate implementation less than 70 days before the election risked disenfranchising mail voters. The injunction replaces her earlier temporary restraining order and applies to the midterms and any federal elections before then. The Trump administration has sought Supreme Court relief while states begin sending mail ballots.
